현대 사회에서 교통공간은 국토의 기본 인프라라는 차원을 넘어 우리의 일상에 공존하는 공간이며 정보, 문화 등이 순환되는 인간 생활 전반에 영향을 주는 것으로 진화되고 있다. 이에 따라, 기존의 교통시설에 대한 관점은 교통건축의 관점으로 변화되어야 하며, 기술적 진보와 문화적 이슈가 통합된 공간의 질적 수준에 대한 탐구가 절실한 시점이다.

 

또한 유라시아 이니셔니브의 국제적 기회 및 통일대비 그리고 철도유휴부지를 활용한 행복주택 프로젝트 등과 같이 국내외 철도, 항공, 항만, 도로와 같은 교통건축 분야의 학술적 통합을 위한 구심점이 절실한 상황이며, 전문인력 양성시스템 역시 지속적으로 개발되어야 한다.

 

우리나라 교통분야 특성화 국립대학인 본 대학의 사회적 역할을 고려할 때, 건축과 관련된 통합적 연구 및 전문인력양성을 위한 기반으로서 교통건축연구소 설립이 필요하다. 이에, 교통건축연구소는 학술연구를 기반으로 유관기관협력, 산학협력, 전문인력양성 등을 통하여 국가 교통건축분야의 선도적 연구소가 되고자 한다.

 

 

In modern society, transportation space is not only country's infrastructure, but also a space that we share information and coexist. It is evolving so that culture and information affects half of circulating human life. Because of this, established transportation structure's perspective needs to change into transportation architecture perspective and exploration of quality of combined space of technological advance and cultural issues is very much in need.

 

Also, Eurasia initiatives' international opportunity and preparation for unification of Korea are extremely important. We are in a desperate situation for projects such as Happy Residence project by government, which uses un-used Railway sites and brings domestic railroad, airport, port and roads, in order for academic integration in transportation architecture field. In addition, specialized training system needs to be consistently developed as well.  

 

Establishing Institute of Transportation Architecture is needed for architecture related integrated research and professional training, considering our school role as Korea's transportation specialized national university. Thus, our Institute of Transportation Architecture aims to become a research institute that leads in academic cooperation, academia-industrial cooperation and professional training based on scientific research.
